Experienced Mechanical Assembly Technician (Day Shift) - Madison Heights

Shibuya Hoppmann has an immediate opening for a Senior Mechanical Assembly Technician to perform high-quality mechanical assembly of custom automated machinery. This is a day shift position, Monday to Friday, in our Madison Heights production facility. Intermittent opportunities for overtime may be available. Occasional travel to customer sites will be required.

 

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

· Work from assembly drawings, specifications, and instructions to plan work in proper sequences

· Assemble parts sorting systems and rotary assembly systems

· Perform assembly operations to exacting tolerances, work with various types of parts including rotating shafts, gear trains, mechanical structures and pneumatic controls

· Operate various hand and power tools involved in assembly

· Use precision measurement tools to level and align work, detect and eliminate run-out, work to close tolerances with a demand for square, concentricity and parallelism.

· Work closely with engineering and assembly supervisors to ensure proper assembly of machine systems.

· Provide technical assistance and collaborate with engineers and other personnel to identify and solve problems during and after assembly.

· Assist in cleaning and preparing equipment scheduled for shipment to customers

· Occasional machinery installation and preventative maintenance at customer locations.

· Maintain a clean and safe work area

· Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements:

· Strong mechanical aptitude

· Proven experience with machine assembly

· Detail oriented, organized and reliable

· Ability to read engineering drawings

· Proper use of manual/power shop tools and measuring instruments

· Ability to use basic fabrication equipment

· Knowledge of fabrication methods and material usage for sheet metal, die cast, and machined parts

· Must be able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 40 lbs. unassisted, and have full range of motion to reach, climb, stoop, kneel and step over equipment easily.

· Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

 

 

Starting salary depends on experience/education:

Salary range: $30 – $40/hour
